Nature Nested is an emerging framework for regenerative housing that reconnects where we live with the land and living systems that sustain us. Beginning at the scale of the home and extending toward the neighborhood, it explores how housing can support working landscapes, strengthen connections between people and place, and foster a more reciprocal relationship with nature.
For generations, conventional development has treated housing, agriculture, infrastructure, and nature as largely separate systems. As communities grow, working farmland and open green spaces are often displaced by development, while the homes that replace them can leave residents increasingly disconnected from the land, food, and ecological systems that sustain daily life. Most of all, we disconnect from each other.
Nature Nested is moving from principles into design through the development of a single-home prototype. Working in collaboration with an architect and urban planner, the prototype translates the framework into tangible decisions about orientation, passive design, materials, energy and water systems, connection to the landscape, and everyday livability.
The next phase will pair the design with cost estimates, allowing environmental performance, construction cost, long-term operating costs, and other benefits to inform design tradeoffs.
The home is the starting point, not the endpoint. What is learned at this scale will help shape how the framework can extend outward to clusters of homes, shared spaces, working farmland, and ultimately a Nature Nested neighborhood.

Nature Nested aims to translate regenerative principles into viable development pathways within real-world economic, regulatory, and social realities. I welcome dialogue with planners, developers, designers, policy leaders, and community advocates who are interested in exploring how this approach might take shape in practice.
